A non-ionic surfactant is a molecule that does not dissociate in water by releasing a counter ion like anionic, cationic or amphoteric tensides. They often form the backbone of the formulation and can be divided into several subgroups.

The Heliwet FA 10 series is a range of non-ionic tensioactive products obtained by ethoxylation of a saturated alcohol with an average chain length of C10. This short alcohol results in rapid moistening and is typified by a characteristic odour. As a result of the short-start alcohol, no gel phase is formed when mixing or dispersing in water.

Heliwet FA 91

The Heliwet FA 91 series is a range of non-ionic tensioactive products obtained by ethoxylation of a saturated alcohol with an average chain length of iso-C10. The compact, branched structure of the alcohol results in more rapid moistening than with a comparable chain length. As a result of the short-start alcohol, no gel phase is formed when mixing or dispersing in water.

The Heliwet FA 13 series is a range of non-ionic tensioactive products obtained by ethoxylation of a saturated alcohol with an average chain length of iso-C13. The branched structure makes this a suitable foundation for the production of (micro-) emulsions, in combination with anionic or other non-ionic products. Due to the length of the alcohol, a gel phase is formed when mixing or dispersing in water. This property can be used to increase the viscosity of the formulation.

The fatty alcohol has a linear structure and is obtained from palm kernels and/or coconut oil. Due to the length of the alcohol, a gel phase is formed when mixing or dispersing in water. This property can be used to increase the viscosity of the formulation.

NP´s

The range of NP products are nonylphenol ethoxylates with different numbers of moles of ethyleneoxide. NP 4 contains 4 moles of ethyleneoxide and is a non-ionic surfactant, which is mainly used as an emulsifier, alone or in combination with other emulsifiers, for mineral oils.

APG´s

APG´s

Our range of APGs are a range of non-ionic surfactants derived from renewable raw materials and glucose. As a consequence, these products are very mild, low in toxicity and readily biodegradable.

The synergistic effects of APGs with other commonly used surfactants yield a performance improvement that can form the basis for a reduction of surfactant content whilst maintaining performance level. The properties and applications of the APGs can vary according to type.

Under the name Heliwet NRF, we market a range of non-ionic alkoxylates with a low free alcohol concentration. Due to their non-ionic nature, all Heliwet NRF products are compatible with anionic, amphoteric and cationic products.

Heliwet PO

Under the Heliwet PO group, we have composed a functional package of fatty alcohol alkoxylates. These products are primarily used in low-foaming applications. These are alkoxylated fatty alcohols, which means that both ethylene and propylene oxide are used as the hydrophilic component of the product. Propylene oxide not only reduces the foaming tendency, but also has a favourable effect on the skin/eye irritation of the product.

Our range of alkanolamides is based on various fatty acids and monoethanolamine or diethanolamine. The products based on diethanolamine can be subdivided into three groups:

- Super-amides based on a 1:1 molar ratio of amine to fatty acid. Due to the process there is a minimum amount of glycerin left in the product.
- Amides based on a 1:1 ratio of amine to a vegetable oil
- Kritchevsky amides based on a 2:1 molar ratio of amine to fatty acid. This type is more soluble in water.

Alkanolamides can be used as anti-static agents for plastics and as emulsifiers for detergents, mineral oils and cosmetic formulations. The tensio-active properties are based on the balance between the hydrophilic hydroxy-alkyl group of the substituted nitrogen atom and the lipophilic fatty acids.

Amineoxides

Amine oxides are non-ionic surfactants derived from natural renewable feed-stocks. Amine oxides are excellent detergents, foam boosters and foam stabilisers and can be used in formulations to provide viscosity, grease emulsification and soil suspension.

Our product may be used in a wide range of applications including:
• Shampoos
• Bubble baths
• Hair conditioners
• Dishwash detergents
• Laundry detergents
• All purpose cleaning agents
• Liquid Bleach products
• Foam stabilisers in rubber and polymer industries.

Amine oxides are compatible with most other surfactants and will not hydrolyse in strongly acidic or alkaline systems. They also exhibit synergystic effects when combined with anionic and other non-ionic surfactants. Amine oxides tend to act as a non-ionic surfactant in neutral and alkaline pH and cationic in acidic conditions. Amine oxides are extensively used with both sodium hypochlorite and hydrogen peroxide to produce bleach based products.
